Do you owe tax on theScore Bet winnings?
Every dollar you win is taxable income, whether or not anyone sent you a form. Losses come off only if you itemize, and only up to your winnings. From tax year 2026 you may deduct just 90 percent of your losses, so breaking even now produces taxable income.
Take the standard deduction, which most filers do, and the losses do nothing at all. Your gross winnings are taxed in full.
A sportsbook reports individual qualifying wins on Form W-2G. A W-2G does not show your yearly profit or loss, so it is never a measure of what you owe.

The thresholds, as theScore Bet states them
1What theScore Bet says triggers a form
theScore Bet’s own wording, not the rule. Operators restate the law, and their wording is not always correct.
- Sportsbook W-2G when winnings minus the wager are $600 or more and the odds are at least 300 to 1
- Casino slots W-2G when total winnings including the wager are $1,200 or more
- Withholding of 24 percent when both W-2G conditions above are met and winnings minus the wager exceed $5,000
Where these figures and the rule in force differ
- $600, $1,200: Superseded for 2026 payments, now $2,000
- $5,000: Correct for 2026
Two of the three figures are below the 2026 floor. The sportsbook and slots thresholds both rose to $2,000 for payments made after 31 December 2025, though a casino may still issue a form at the old slots figure. The withholding rule, more than $5,000 and at least 300 to 1, matches 26 U.S.C. 3402(q)(3)(A).
For a sportsbook wager, the reporting threshold is set by 26 U.S.C. 6041(a), which section 70433(a) of Public Law 119-21 raised from $600 to $2,000 for payments made after 31 December 2025. A sportsbook W-2G also needs winnings of at least 300 times the wager. That change also reaches slot machines, bingo and keno. 26 CFR 1.6041-10 still prints $1,200 for slots and bingo and $1,500 for keno, but the Treasury says the statutory floor applies regardless (REG-113229-25), so $2,000 is the figure for all three for payments made in 2026. Some casinos may still issue a form at the lower figures. That does not change what you owe. Every dollar of gambling winnings is taxable whether or not a form arrives, so do not read a missing form as a missing tax bill. How the W-2G threshold works.
How many forms to expect
1One place for both products. Sportsbook and Hollywood Casino forms sit together under W2G Tax Forms and share the same payer.
The win/loss statement, which is not your tax form
1theScore Bet says the Win/Loss or Profit Statement is not an official IRS document or tax form, and that they do not report it to the IRS. It is available only by contacting support.
This is the document a session log is built from, and the one most often mistaken for a tax form. Per wager or per session, and why it changes your bill.
Worth knowing
- ESPN BET became theScore Bet on 1 December 2025, after PENN and ESPN agreed to end their agreement early. PENN says it rebranded the sportsbook across its online platforms, so look for your 2025 forms in theScore Bet app.
- The old ESPN BET help centre is gone, and its links now go to a sign-in page.
- The only published route for a closed account is contacting support inside the app, which does not help anyone who has deleted it.
