Terms of Service

The short version: this site gives estimates, not advice, and your tax return is your responsibility.

Effective 2026-10-01.

Who we are

This site is a Kind Works product. “We” means Kind Works. These terms apply when you use this site. If you use it, you agree to them.

An estimate, not advice

The calculator and the guides give estimates and general information. They are not tax, legal or financial advice. Using this site does not make us your tax preparer, lawyer or adviser. We do not prepare or file returns.

Tax rules change, and your situation can differ from what the calculator models. Each result explains how it reached its figure and flags the gaps we know about. Before you file, check your figures against the official forms and instructions, or with a tax professional.

Your return

You are responsible for your own return, and for what you report and pay. Do not rely on this site alone to make those decisions.

No warranty

We work to keep the figures correct, and we flag the uncertainties we know about. But as far as the law allows, we provide this site “as is” and “as available”, with no warranties of any kind. We do not promise that any figure is correct or complete.

Limit of liability

As far as the law allows, Kind Works is not liable for any tax, penalty or interest you owe, or for indirect or consequential damages or lost data or profits, that come from your use of this site.

Using the site

This site does not take bets or offer gambling. Its calculator estimates tax from the figures you enter. Do not use it to break the law, and do not attack it or overload it with automated requests.

Joining the waitlist does not commit you to anything. We link to official sources and other sites, and we do not control them.

How we handle what you enter is on the Privacy page.

Governing law

The laws of the State of Oregon, USA, govern these terms. Any dispute about them goes to the state or federal courts in Oregon.

Changes

If these terms change, we update this page and the date above. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
