Do you owe tax on Fanatics Sportsbook winnings?
Every dollar you win is taxable income, whether or not anyone sent you a form. Losses come off only if you itemize, and only up to your winnings. From tax year 2026 you may deduct just 90 percent of your losses, so breaking even now produces taxable income.
Take the standard deduction, which most filers do, and the losses do nothing at all. Your gross winnings are taxed in full.
A sportsbook reports individual qualifying wins on Form W-2G. A W-2G does not show your yearly profit or loss, so it is never a measure of what you owe.
- Form W-2G and/or Form 1099. The terms do not say which 1099 variant.
How it reaches you
1Fanatics Sportsbook delivers it electronically, if you consent to that and on paper if you ask for it.
The licensed operator differs by state and is often not called Fanatics. In Pennsylvania the licence is held by PointsBet Pennsylvania LLC, a brand Fanatics retired. In New Jersey it operates under an agreement with Bally’s Atlantic City, and in Michigan with the Lac Vieux Desert Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. Fanatics does not state which name appears on the form itself.
The win/loss statement, which is not your tax form
1Transaction History, under Your Account, covers deposits, withdrawals and betting for the past 24 months only. We found nothing from Fanatics on whether it is a tax document.
This is the document a session log is built from, and the one most often mistaken for a tax form. Per wager or per session, and why it changes your bill.
Worth knowing
- We found no Fanatics help centre. Every support link on its site shows an error, not a page. The only tax text we found is a clause in the state terms of service, and it does not say where to find your tax form.
- Support is an email address, plus in-app chat. The terms also give a phone number, 800-254-0320.
- The terms allow withholding for debts owed to a state.
What we could not confirm
We could not confirm where in the app the form sits, the date the form appears, the amounts that trigger a form or how many forms to expect from a page Fanatics Sportsbook publishes that we could read. We have left those out rather than guess.
