Do you owe tax on bet365 winnings?
Every dollar you win is taxable income, whether or not anyone sent you a form. Losses come off only if you itemize, and only up to your winnings. From tax year 2026 you may deduct just 90 percent of your losses, so breaking even now produces taxable income.
Take the standard deduction, which most filers do, and the losses do nothing at all. Your gross winnings are taxed in full.
A sportsbook reports individual qualifying wins on Form W-2G. A W-2G does not show your yearly profit or loss, so it is never a measure of what you owe.
- Form W-2G, individually per bet and as a full-year PDF roll-up
- Form 1099, for non-betting winnings and other prizes. bet365 does not say which variant

2What bet365 says triggers a form
bet365’s own wording, not the rule. Operators restate the law, and their wording is not always correct.
- bet365 publishes no dollar figure. It reports whenever winnings meet the applicable reporting standards established by the Internal Revenue Code and Treasury regulations
- Withholding at the rate required by law, which bet365 states is 24 percent as of January 1, 2026
For a sportsbook wager, the reporting threshold is set by 26 U.S.C. 6041(a), which section 70433(a) of Public Law 119-21 raised from $600 to $2,000 for payments made after 31 December 2025. A sportsbook W-2G also needs winnings of at least 300 times the wager. That change also reaches slot machines, bingo and keno. 26 CFR 1.6041-10 still prints $1,200 for slots and bingo and $1,500 for keno, but the Treasury says the statutory floor applies regardless (REG-113229-25), so $2,000 is the figure for all three for payments made in 2026. Some casinos may still issue a form at the lower figures. That does not change what you owe. Every dollar of gambling winnings is taxable whether or not a form arrives, so do not read a missing form as a missing tax bill. How the W-2G threshold works.
Reporting covers Sportsbook, Casino and Live Dealer together. The help centre explains this only in its Sports section, and we found no tax article for the casino.
Worth knowing
- bet365 is the only operator on this site that quotes no threshold and points to the tax code instead. So its own page stayed correct when the figure changed on 1 January 2026.
- Tax documents stay available electronically for at least three years. No other operator on this site commits to a retention period.
- If an email to you bounces, bet365 posts the document instead.
- The state help sites are copies of the New Jersey one. A North Carolina customer is still told to press a button labelled Download NJ.
What we could not confirm
We could not confirm the company name that appears on the form or whether a win/loss statement is available from a page bet365 publishes that we could read. We have left those out rather than guess.
